Ophthalmology Interest Group Bylaws & Constitution 2020-2024
Mission
OIG is aimed as exposing medical students to the specialty of Ophthalmology through a variety of mediums, including shadowing, research, and volunteering.
Shadowing
Over the past few years, OIG has developed strong relationships with ophthalmologists within the Omaha community. A list of contacts is available for students to look up and make connections with for shadowing opportunities.
Research Experiences
OIG has developed a research relationship with UNMC and Children’s Hospitla to provide students the opportunity to explore research.
Volunteering Experiences
OIG provides many volunteering opportunities in the community including eye dissections and vision screenings within the Omaha Community.
Membership
There are no dues to join OIG, and the club is open to all students with an interest in ophthalmology. Leadership positions include:
- President
- Vice president
- Secretary
- Volunteering Coordinators (2)
- Research Coordinators (2)
- Journal Coordinators (2)
Elections will be held each spring for all positions within the club. Additionally, if there is an interest, a position can be made for an M1 liaison to be determined each fall.
